I have to be honest, when a friend of mine directed me to The Networked Congregation: Embracing the Spirit of Experimentation, I was very skeptical. I still am. To be fair, after quickly scanning the introduction, I do believe it’s worth investigating further, and I will in the near future.
Yeah, that snaggle-toothed kid with the bed-head haircut is me at my eleven-year-old birthday party. It’s hard to tell, I tend not to More »
Registration for Ministry 2.0 Kansas City opened yesterday. Ministry 2.0 is an interdenominational event all about helping churches and ministries do more with blogging, social media, web design, and all things involving the Internet in ministry. A variety of workshops will be offered at Indian Creek Community Church on Saturday, May 30. Some of the top web professionals from around the country (inside and outside the ‘church’) will be leading workshops and sharing their experiences. I hope you will plan to attend.

Like Starbucks, many churches and denominations across the country have lost sight of their core purpose — to make disciples for Jesus Christ. We build our buildings. Market and advertise. Raise money to build more buildings, then market and advertise even more to grow membership. You get the idea. At some point, what was once a vibrant ministry becomes a big, bloated conglomerate that cares less about Jesus and more about numbers and money.
As many of my friends are aware, my brother Craig is an accomplished artist. While Craig’s body of work is very broad, he is best known for his ‘Big Head’ paintings. While he shows in New York City and Los Angeles on a regular basis, Craig’s upcoming April exhibit will introduce a number of new ‘Big Head’ paintings. If you are collector or simply find yourself engaged by the story that each painting shares, check out his upcoming exhibit and past work at CraigCarlisle.com.
Posted my new Twitter page design, check it out at http://twitter.com/mattcarlisle.
I gained lots of inspiration from today’s Church 2.0 conference and the ministry of Greg Atkinson. These are my free form notes from the morning session.
One easy way to unearth money from your existing church budget is to stop letting your fingers do the walking and dump your Yellow Pages advertisement.
